[09 Aug 2012][News] Half of Girls’ Generation’s special postage stamps sell out in an hour

The Girls’ Generation stamps that have started going on sale on August 9th are exploding with popularity.

Girls’ Generation was recently named the first ever celebrity to be used as an image on a new collection of postage stamps released by the Korea Post. In recognition of their role as leaders of the global K-Pop boom, the Korea Post chose Girls’ Generation as their newest models in addition to celebrating their fifth anniversary since debut.

Choi Jinwook, the postal team leader at Seoul Central Post Office, specially created the first celebrity stamps using the members of Girls’ Generation, revealed that at 10 AM, an hour after they began sales, 600 of the prepared 1,200 sets of stamps were sold.

A total of 14 different postage stamps can be found in a set, including nine individual member pictures from ‘The Boys‘, which also include signatures, and past album jacket covers like ‘Gee‘ and ‘Oh!‘. Each set of stamps costs 20,000 won.
